Sheila Woollard, age 52, passed away on March 3, 2021, at Taylor House in Des Moines. A visitation will be held on Friday, March 5, from 5:00-7:30 pm at the Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home - McCalley Chapel in Adel. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 6, at 11:00 am at the Lutheran Church of Hope in West Des Moines. Burial will be at the Woodward Cemetery in Woodward. Sheila was born on November 9, 1968, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to James G. and Marilyn (Van Epps) Wendel. Sheila graduated from Lincoln Community School in Stanwood, Iowa, in 1987, and continued her education at the University of Northern Iowa where she received a Bachelor’ Degree in 1991. Upon graduation Sheila began working for the United States Department of Agriculture where she served for more than 30 years. She married Michael Todd Woollard on May 9, 2009, at the Candle Lit Way Wedding Chapel in Dallas Center. Together they made Lutheran Church of Hope their church home. She enjoyed travelling across the United States, camping, all of her pets, and spending time with family and friends. She was the “shutterbug” of the family. Sheila was preceded in death by her father and her grandparents. She is survived by her husband, Michael; her mother Marilyn; mother-in-law Jeannie Wittneben; siblings Sheryl (Doug) Kardell, Jeff (Michelle) Wendel, Denna Large, Sarah (Shannon) Bradshaw, Suzanne (Bucky) Ray, and Scott Woollard; and many nieces, nephews, and great nephews. The family would like to thank Dr. Mo and his staff at the University of Iowa Cancer Center. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to support research of Dr. Mohammed M. Milhem, Melanoma Research Fund (30506072) at the University of Iowa. Contributions in Sheila’s memory can be made payable to the University of Iowa Center for Advancement.
