Celebration of Life Service for Sheryl Lynn Freestone was held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 12, 2016 at the First Christian Church in Perry. Rev. Andrea Brownlee provided words of comfort. Interment took place at Violet Hill Cemetery. Hastings Funeral Home in Perry was in charge of these arrangements. Sheryl Lynn Freestone, daughter of Melvin Cregeen and Evelyn Varner was born December 31, 1957, in Des Moines, IA and died November 8, 2016 at the Dallas County Hospital in Perry, IA at the age of 58. Sheryl was raised and educated in Perry. In 1973, Sheryl married Mack Freestone. They lived in Colorado and later Hawaii. In 2001, Sheryl moved back to Perry. She was married to Robert Anderson and they later divorced. While in Hawaii, Sheryl was a CNA and worked as a homemaker for her landlord. In Perry she worked as a CNA at the Rowley Memorial Masonic Home and then for Burger King. She also worked at Kum and Go, Mars and then returned to Burger King. Because of failing health, she later retired. Sheryl was very much loved by her entire family and she loved them. She enjoyed cards, Yahtzee, watching old movies on television, and loved to sew. Sheryl was preceded in death by her mother Evelyn and brother Brian Cregeen. She will be greatly missed by her father Melvin Cregeen of Perry; children: Joshua Freestone of Perry; Jasmine Ivo and her husband James of Colorado Springs, CO; Damian Freestone; and Stephanie Madriaga and her husband Allen of Perry. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Ashlyn, Dana, Morgan, Kyra, Preston, Raven, and Alexander and one greatly anticipated grandchild. Her brothers Terry Cregeen and his wife Deanna; Jeff Cregeen and his wife Amanda; sisters Lori Titchener and her husband Gary; and Debra Cregeen, all of Perry; aunts and uncles: Mort Cregeen; Mike Cregeen; Marilyn Bailey and husband Leon; Marcella Dergan; and Ada Varner; nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
