Shirley Ann Button, 92, of Adel, died June 12, 2024, at Spurgeon Manor, in Dallas Center, Iowa. A visitation will be held Monday, June 17th from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home - Adel Chapel. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 18th at 10:00 am at the funeral home, with burial following at Oakdale Cemetery in Adel.
Shirley was born in Des Moines, Iowa to Verne and Kathleen Jenkins on January 16, 1932. She grew up in Adel, graduating in 1950, and then attended Drake University. Shirley married her high school sweetheart, Harold “Bub” Button, on August 19, 1951, and to this union were born three daughters and three sons.
Shirley and Bub enjoyed traveling with the children to Minnesota and Colorado. In later life, they experienced trips to Germany and Nova Scotia, and spent 24 years “snow-birding” in Destin, Florida.
Survivors are her children, Becky (Dave) Andersen, Dan (Shari), Julie (Mark) Kluber, Cindy (Randy) Stefani, David (Teri), and Rob (Erica). Grandchildren are Brooke (Mikkel) Jakobsen, Alyssa Sablan, Brad (Shelley) Button, Chad Button, Jordan (Christine) Kluber, Jaelynn (John) Tomlinson, Ryan (Courtney Schultz) Stefani, Kelsey (Emily) Stefani, Brett (Megan) Stefani, Kasey (Trent) Geurts, Jake Button, Cole (Maggie) Button, Nick (Jackie) Button, Josh (Nazareth) Button, Chelsea Button, Jason Sheehy, and Brian (Sarah) Sheehy. Also, Brother-in-law Dennis (Judy) Button, Sister-in-law Joyce Button, 31 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandson, and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Bub, parents Verne and Kathy Jenkins, brothers Jim and John Jenkins, granddaughter Katie Kluber, great-grandson Dallas Button, and son-in-law Harold Beaman.
The family thanks all of the nurses and staff at Spurgeon Manor for their loving care of Shirley.
