Shirley Gayle James - Adel

Shirley Gayle James, 78, went home to her Lord August 18, 2012 at Sunnybrook of Adel in a room she shared with her loving husband of 38 years, Myron Dean James. Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 22 at McCalley Funeral Home in Adel with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Oakdale Cemetery in Adel at a later date. Shirley was born July 12, 1934 to Neva M. and Clayton Johnson in Van Meter. She graduated from De Soto High School in 1947 and was married to Dean in 1974. Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Dean; children, Donna (Dennis) Donnelly, Ron (Terry) Gilley, Linda (Gary) Grady, and Carla Dauer; step children, Mike, Bill (Debbie), Andy, Kenny, Diana Burzloff, Roger, and Tammy Young; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; and brother, Frank (Jacque) Johnson She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers; son, William; and daughter, Pam. She has many friends and family who will miss her infectious laugh. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association.
