Shirley Louise Dresback, 87, passed away peacefully on August 5th, at home, surrounded by her loving family. Shirley was born in Paton, IA on January 4th, 1933 to Carl and Iva (Clark) Ogren. Her formative years were spent on the family farm, just outside of Jefferson, IA with her five siblings. It was during this time that Shirley developed her passion for crocheting, a hobby she enjoyed until her final days. Shirley married Deane Dresback on October 25, 1952 and children soon followed. The family made their home in many areas, but eventually settled in Winterset, IA. Throughout the years, Shirley had a variety of career opportunities and was always seeking new challenges. However, she often remarked that of all her jobs, her favorite was being a stay at home mom to their five children. Always active within her community of Winterset, Shirley loved participating in the farmer’s market and the Covered Bridge Festival. She had an appreciation for sports of all kinds, frequently cheering on her beloved Hawkeyes, Winterset Huskies, and supporting any team in which family members were participating. Shirley treasured the time with her large family, always excited about making family favorite recipes for all to enjoy. Her grandchildren would tell you that her meat loaf and “pink” salad were award-winning. Shirley is survived by her children, Rick (Mindy) Dresback of Creston, Terri (Craig) Johnson of Nerstrand, MN, Barb (John) DeJoode of New Virginia, and Gary (Amy) Dresback of Woodward; one sister, Joann Rowles, Grand Junction; one sister-in-law, Valerie Ogren, of Carroll; 16 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. Shirley was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Deane Dresback; parents, Carl and Iva (Clark) Ogren; son, Bob Dresback; brothers, Duane Ogren, and Fred (Beverly) Ogren; brother-in-law, Jim Rowles; sisters, Norma (Jack) Wagers and Mildred (Jim) Smith; and grandson, Jeremy Johnson. Visitation will be held from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 15th, 2020 at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home, Winterset Chapel. Funeral Service will immediately follow at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will take place in the Winterset Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Athletic Booster Club at Winterset High School or EveryStep Hospice.
