Shirley Whited

Shirley Whited of Winterset, died unexpectedly Thursday, February 23, 2017. She was 69. A private graveside service will be held at the Winterset Cemetery. Shirley Jean Whited, the daughter of Cecil and Ethel (Cole) Whited, was born August 23, 1947 in Creston, Iowa. She attended school in Creston and graduated from Creston High School in 1966. Shirley worked for the Iowa Department of Transportation for most of her working career. She was a member of the First United Christian Church in Creston. Shirley enjoyed jig-saw puzzles, watching movies and collecting cookbooks as well as many other collectables and keepsakes. She is survived by a brother, Gary (Becky) Whited of Seymour, TN; brother-in-law, William Meyer of Winterset; nieces, Kimmie (Tim) Kernes; Laura (Larry) Silverthorn; Amber (Chris) Martin; nephews, Lt. Col. Russell (Tammy) Meyer; Douglas (Natalie) Meyer; Brian (Tammie) Meyer; Justin Whited; many great nieces and nephews, extended family and special friends, Barb and Paula. Preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Charlotte Meyer.
