Stanley Mount, 83, of Lorimor, died Wednesday, January 20, 2021, at Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Tuesday, January 26, 2021, at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home, Winterset Chapel with Pastor Doug Benda officiating. Family will receive friends on Monday, January 25 from 4 to 6 PM at the funeral home. Face masks are required and social distancing is encouraged. Burial will be in the Barney Cemetery in Madison County, Iowa, on Friday, 11:00 a.m., January 29. Memorials may be directed to his family for a future designation. Stanley was born on September 22, 1937 (the hottest day on record, which still holds today), in Dexter, Iowa, the son of Ray and Martha (Williamson) Mount. He was married 60 wonderful years to Dottie Jo Goodman. They were married September 25, 1960 at the Ord Christian Church in Madison County. Stanley went to the Douglas Center Country School, and was a 1956 graduate of Winterset High School. He started working for Borden Milk Company on a country delivery route after high school. He then went into the service, and served in the US Army during the Vietnam era from 1961-1963. After the service, he worked for Brady Manufacturing in Ankeny, New Virginia Feed and Grain as a welder, and later drove for Kuhns Trucking in Winterset. Through all his working years, Stanley also farmed in Union and Madison Counties. He took great pride in farming and lived on the farm north of Lorimor for 56 years. Stanley moved to Lorimor in 1965, and was a member of the First Baptist Church and American Legion Post #96, both of Lorimor. Stanley is survived by his wife, Dottie Jo Mount of Lorimor; children, Judy (Dan) Welcher of Lorimor, Robin (Chuck) Hill of Winterset, and Steve (Kellie) Mount of Winterset; brother, Robert (Marjorie) Mount of Ottumwa; sister, Martha Ann (Mike) Vandenbusch of Huntingbeach, CA; grandchildren, Nicki Welcher, Anna Welcher, Chad (Casey) Hill, Chelsea (Joe) Strong, Ashton (Justin) McKeever, Briley Mount, and Carsyn Mount; and great grandchildren, Ethan and Eli Hill, and Etta McKeever. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Martha (Williamson) Mount; stepfather, Harold Clarkson; half-brothers, Fred, Pete, and Jack Mount; sister, Carolyn Mount; and half-sister, Margaret Haman.
