Steve Livingston

Steve Livingston, 70, of Winterset, passed away on Thursday, May 28, 2020, at EveryStep Kavanagh House in Des Moines. Steve was born on October 13, 1949 in Creston, Iowa to Jack and Katherine (Handley) Livingston. He grew up on the family farm near Lorimor and graduated from Winterset High School in 1969. In 1971, Steve married Kathleen Lull at the Patterson United Methodist Church. In 1973, Steve graduated from Iowa State University with an agricultural degree. Steve and Kathy were blessed with three children. Steve started his working career as a High School Ag Teacher. He then became a swine breeder, and finally worked for Kirkpatrick Locker as a meat cutter. He had been a member of the FFA, 4-H, was a member of the 4-H Extension Council, and had been president of the Winterset PTO. Steve loved to read, sports of any kind (especially his Yankees), playing cards (including cribbage – his favorite), and watching western movies. Above all else, Steve loved his grandchildren (Ethan, Ella, Makenzie, Karter, Brenden, and Maguire). Surviving relatives include his wife, Kathy Livingston of Winterset; children, Jennifer (Kevin) Meurer of Ankeny; Scott (Cheryl) Livingston of Waukon, Wesley (Kate) Livingston of Urbandale, and grandchildren, Ella Livingston, Makenzie Livingston, Karter Meurer, Brenden Meurer, and Maguire Livingston; mother, Katherine Livingston of Winterset; sister, Sharon (Mark) Lund of Jewell; brothers, Greg (Darcy) Livingston of Johnston and Rodric (Deborah Murray) Livingston of Madagascar; and sister-in-law, Kristi (Dave Johnson) Livingston of Columbia, MO. He was preceded in death by his father, Jack Livingston; brother, Malcom Livingston; and grandson, Ethan Livingston. There will be no services held. Memorials may be directed to the Leukemia Lymphoma Society.
