Steve Smith

Stephen Mark Smith was born on March 6, 1945, in Algona, IA, to Lawrence and Bridget Smith. He spent his childhood in Algona and graduated from Bishop Garrigan High School. After graduation, he went on to attend Fort Dodge Jr. College on a Football Scholarship and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree.

On April 12, 1980, Stephen married Christine Kay Novak. He worked for Builders Supply in Mason City and served as a Territory Manager for Globe, Atlas, & GAF. Despite his busy schedule, Stephen cherished spending time with his family. He enjoyed taking his grandchildren boating, fishing and tubing  at the Lake of the Ozarks and had a passion for deer and turkey hunting. He was a man of strong faith and family meant everything.

Steve passed away at the age of 78 on Saturday, April 15, 2023, at his home.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Chris, their children, Corey Smith, Kimberly (Tracy) Bohlen, and Jeffrey Smith, as well as their grandchildren, Keira Alliss, Lexi Alliss, Jasper Alliss, and Gavin Bohlen. He is also survived by his sister, Bernice Seiler. He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Noreen, Barb, Helen, Joe Smith, and Chuck Smith.

A Funeral Mass for Steve will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, April 18, 2023, at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Waukee. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Monday, April 17, 2023, at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home & Crematory in Urbandale. Interment will take place in Waukee Cemetery.
