Steven Jones

Steven Craig Jones, 79 of West Des Moines, passed away on February 19, 2022 at his home in West Des Moines. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 25, 2022 at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home in Urbandale. A visitation will be held begin at 1:00 p.m. on Friday until the beginning of the service. Following the service burial will take place at Jordan Cemetery in West Des Moines. To view the the live stream of Steve's service please go to his Tribute Wall and click on the link. Steven Jones was born September 10, 1942 in Wichita, Kansas to Victor Robert Jones and Geneva B. (Seglem) Jones. Steve graduated high school in Pratt, KS in 1960, he then attended Pratt Jr. College where he graduated in 1960, and then attended mortuary school in Dallas, TX, where he graduated with his mortuary science degree in 1961. He then spent the next 15 years of his life as a funeral director until he transitioned careers as an insurance sales agent with New York Life for 22 years, until his retirement. Steve was a proud co-owner of a family business until his time of passing. He had numerous hobbies including cheering on his Kansas City Chiefs, watching Nascar and truly enjoyed cruising around on nice days with his mustang convertible. Most of all he loved being with his family and his friends. He is survived by his wife,Barbara; his son, Rob Jones and his children Olivia, Emma, Alyssa and Lauren; his daughter Cindy (Emily) Gibbens and their children Cooper and Nora; his step son, Larry (Corina) Hayes and their children Talia, Gabrielle, Andrew, Aiden and Grayson; his sister, Vickie (Larry) Heath, as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family members. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Tina Schirm; his granddaughter, Anna Schirm; his brother, Jerry Jones and his parents, Victor and Geneva.
