Steven L Kunz

Steven Lawrence Kunz, 69, of Clive, IA, passed away on May 29th, 2020. Steve was born in Davenport, IA to Joseph and Betty Lou (Chamberlin) Kunz on October 4th, 1950. He graduated from Regis High school in 1968 in Cedar Rapids, IA. Steve moved to Springfield, MO to start his family as well as his business, Kleen King truck washing. He returned to Iowa in 1984 and managed the Tama County Truck Stop. His ability to connect and communicate with people and his passion to serve others led him to a very successful career in sales starting with Eastern Iowa Drywall & Supply. He retired with recognition after 20 fruitful years with Hilti. Steve dedicated his life to faith, family, and fun. He was extremely hardworking and enjoyed various construction projects at home and for family and friends. He was an avid Hawkeye fan and spent many years tailgating or cheering them on from home. Other hobbies included golf, coin collecting, reading, fixing things, and music. Steve will always be remembered for his joyful personality and for making everyone feel welcome. In 2004 Steve married his soul mate, Carol, which created a beautiful blended family. They loved to spend their time together in quiet times at home or walks around the block. They took multiple road trips across the United States and travels abroad. Their faith life together led them to be active members in their church, including the Knights of Columbus. Steve is survived by his best friend and wife, Carol Krempges Kunz; his children, Tonia (Ken) LeBeau, Brenda (Michael) Wickman, Kyle (Patti) Kunz, Mandy (Spanky) Boldt, Emily (Craig) Timmerman, Mary Beth (Matt Keel) Kunz, and Acilia (Nate) Wiles. Known as “Papa” or “Grandpa”, his 10 grandchildren, Zach, Clayton, Liam, Evie, Nate, Lani, Lane, Brianne, Hailey, and Noah, loved spending time with him and listening to his stories. He is also survived by his siblings, Kathy Stastny, Brady (Doretta) Kunz, Sheri (Roy) Howard, Greg (Gayle) Kunz, Patrick (Liz) Fahey; and in-laws, Mary Ann Krempges, RSM, Richard Krempges, Dean (Bridget) Krempges, and Lynn (Randy) Spies. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Betty Lou (Chamberlin) Kunz; brother-in-law, Dave Stastny; and sister-in-law, Nancy Krempges. A visitation will be held from 12:00 to 2:00 pm on Tuesday, June 2, 2020 at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home & Crematory in Urbandale. A private family Funeral Mass and burial will follow.
