Steven Lynn Vodenik

Steven Lynn Vodenik was born on May 12, 1952 at the King's Daughters Hospital in Perry, Iowa to Harry Emmett Vodenik and Lorraine Floy (Bennett) Vodenik. He graduated from Perry High School in 1970. Steven met and married the love of his life Kathy Kae Zuber on May 24, 1976 in Adel, Iowa. The couple was blessed with a son Shawn, and 2 daughters Stacy and Kelsey. Steven worked for the Railroad for 15 years and then as a job coach at Woodward Resource Center for 29 years. He loved to go fishing, ice fishing, hunting, camping, boating, riding his Harley Davidson, spending time at the lake house in the Ozarks, and especially loved being with his grandkids. Steven was a member of the Elk's Lodge in Perry, a volunteer for the fire department for 20 years, a reserve police officer, and part of the water search and rescue. He died at his home on October 30, 2023. Steven is preceded in death by his parents, brother Kenneth Carey, and several aunts and uncles. He is survived by his wife of 47 years Kathy; son Shawn Vodenik of Bondurant, Iowa; daughters Stacy Grove (Aaron) of Louisburg, Kansas and Kelsey Vodenik-Parmenter (Eric) of Ankeny; seven grandchildren: Kira Anthony, Ethan Vodenik, Isaac Grove, Aiden Parmenter, Nadi Vodenik, Eamon Grove, and Evan Parmenter; sister Keela Gilliland (Bud) of Perry, Iowa; sister-in-law Peggy Carey of Irvine, California; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. A Celebration of Life / Visitation will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, November 3, 2023 at Hastings Funeral Home in Perry. Burial will take place in the Violet Hill Cemetery.
