Steven Richard Hall

July 11, 1977 — May 21, 2024

Steve Hall, age 46, of Grimes, Iowa passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at home. A celebration of life will be held in Florida at a later date.

Steve was born July 11, 1977, in Miami, Florida, the oldest of four children to Perry and Beth (Hall) Atkinson. He grew up in Citra, Florida, attending North Marion High School avoiding class whenever possible, to work at Pic ‘N’ Save and fund his Chevy Nova’s fuel habit.

Following high school, Steve attended Miami-Dade College before returning to Citra, Florida to work at A-2-Z Pest Control.

In 2002, Steve met Nikki Burris via mutual friends and in a whirlwind courtship were married less than 5 months later. In their nearly 22 years of marriage, they moved nine times to four states and three countries.

While in Indiana, Steve completed his Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from IUPUI but saw fit to serve as the chief financial advisor, home manager, and biggest fan of his wife, supporting her career across the globe.

Steve was an avid music lover and was in the process of teaching himself to play the guitar. From late August to early February Steve could be found watching Football every chance he could get and in subsequent months squeezing in the occasional golf game.

Inheriting his love of cruises from his grandparents, Steve, preferred to see the world one port at a time. He was the best trivia partner, likely holding some type of record for the most 24 carat gold plastic ships on a stick.

Most of his free time in recent years was dedicated to serving as Uncle Steve, battling the hordes in virtual reality with his nephew, Jase.

Steve was truly the nicest, funniest, quirkiest, and most genuine human. He loved with all his heart and his loss will be felt by every life he touched.

Those left to cherish his memories include his wife, Nikki; his father, Perry Atkinson; two sisters, Tracy Atkinson (Sean) and Mary Morgan of O’Brien, FL; his grandmother-in-law Grace Burris of Greensburg, KY; In-laws Dan and Linda Burris of Greensburg, KY; brother-in-law Daniel Burris of Atlanta, GA, sister-in-law Kimberli (David) Cooley of Frankfort, KY; Aunts Kathy Wernon; Uncles Jim, Bill, Tom, and Mike Hall.

Nephews Simon Weaver, Kaden Morgan, Trenton Cooley, and Jase Brierton. Nieces Cameron Young, Jordan Young, and Vienna Cooley; along with many other relatives and friends.

Steve was preceded in death by his mother Beth Atkinson, brother Perry “Deat” Atkinson Jr., mother-in-law Gayle Burris, grandparents William and Jeanne Hall and grand father-in-law Bobby Burris.
