Tammy Brown, 57, of Truro died Thursday, January 10, 2019, at the Winterset Care Center North in Winterset. A visitation with family present will be held at Ochiltree Funeral Service from 4 to 7 p.m., Monday, January 14. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, January 15, at the funeral home with burial to follow in the Union Chapel Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Animal Rescue League of Iowa and online condolences may be left for the family at ochiltree.com. Tamelia Yovonne Brown was born May 8, 1961, in Winterset, Iowa; the daughter of Kenneth and Shirley (Rustan) Brown. Tammy graduated from Winterset High School in 1979. During her working career, Tammy bartended at many bars in Madison County for over 30 years and owned Tammy’s Tavern in Truro for 7 years. She also worked for Sears Credit for several years. She served on the Truro City Council for a time. She liked to play pool and was on many pool leagues. Tammy enjoyed gardening and liked to tend to her flower beds. She also loved all animals, especially her dogs. Tammy is survived by her daughter, Shawna Brown (Denny Thompson) of Peru; sister, Michelle (Wesley) Tish of Carlisle; two grandchildren, Skylar and Gavin Thompson and two nieces, Rachel (Jorgen) Rose and Maggie Tish. She was preceded in death by her parents.
