Terry Thomas Raffensperger, 63, of St. Joseph, MO, formerly of West Des Moines, died Sunday, Nov. 26, 2017, at home after a short illness. He was born Feb. 2, 1954, in Marion, OH, son of Gene L. and Mary E. (Gruber) Raffensperger. He is a 1972 graduate of West Des Moines Valley. Terry served in the U.S. Army from 1975-1978. He graduated from the University of Missouri in 1980. He married Maureen Cloonan on Oct. 17, 1981, in Columbia, Mo. They were later divorced. He was a reporter for the Mexico (MO) Ledger and then the News Press in St. Joseph, MO, rising to Business Editor. He then became an over-the-road trucker for 15 years. Survivors include two daughters, Lisa Raffensperger of Boston, Mass., and Erin (Bill) Emory of Ann Arbor, Mich.; his parents of Cedar Falls; and two sisters, Nancy (Doug) Newhoff of Cedar Falls and Mary (Jeff) Kellen of Kuwait City, Kuwait; and several nieces and nephews. Memorial Services will be 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 1, at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home in Urbandale with burial in Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter. Visitation will be for an hour prior to services at the funeral home. Memorials to the family.
