Theresa Lynn Darr (60), a remarkable woman full of love and dedication, peacefully transitioned to eternal peace on Friday, June 7, 2024, at Pikes Peak Post Acute Care Center in her beloved Colorado Springs, CO.
Born on January 13, 1964, in the city of Davenport, IA, Theresa was the cherished daughter of Herman (Dale) and Shirley (Miranda) Wenger. Her unwavering spirit led her on an extraordinary journey that was filled with profound love, selflessness, and boundless joy.
Theresa's life was a symphony of compassion and devotion. A dedicated caregiver and life/job coach at Pathfinder, her passion for helping others was extraordinary.
Theresa grew up with her mother and both of her sisters. She enjoyed riding horses during the summers with her father. Theresa was a talented musician and singer. Known for her cover of ‘Crazy’ by patsy cline to some. Theresa loved singing with her sister , Jeanie, most of all.
At the age of 20 years old, she gave birth to her first born, Christopher Gene Moore, who brought immense pride and joy into her world. She lovingly nurtured him, fostering his talents and celebrating his every achievement with contagious excitement and admiration. As a child, she loved to read him books. Often the same ones over and over at his request. Later in life, she would tell everyone how talented, smart and amazing her son was. She had his art proudly displayed above her bed before she passed and would tell everyone “My son made this”. She also held on to a stuffed animal he gave to her as she left this world. She was beyond proud of who he had become and was filled with pride knowing that was her son. He made her laugh harder than anyone could. Her love and respect for him was tremendous and the relationship they shared was beautiful testament to a mother and son's bond.
Later, destiny led her to the love of her life, George Darr, with whom she shared a deep connection and embraced a new chapter of familial bliss. Theresa never remarried after George passed and would still talk about the love they shared over 20 years later.
Among the many treasures of her life was her surprise gift at the age of 32, a baby girl, Madison, whose existence became a testament to Theresa's unwavering love and dedication. From tender lullabies to unwavering support, Theresa's devotion to her daughter knew no bounds, creating a bond that was unbreakable even by the hands of time. Madison and Theresa spoke everyday and shared many sacred memories. The moment that Theresa left this world, Madison was by her side.
Through life's twists and turns, Theresa displayed a courage that knew no limit. Her move to Beebe, Arkansas, with her daughter signified her unyielding strength and determination to provide a better life for her family. Her selflessness and bravery shined bright in every endeavor she undertook. Two years later, her mother, Shirley Miranda moved in with her. During this time Theresa loved riding her motorcycle with her best friend , singing with her daughter and taking road trips every second she could.
She gave everything she had to her family. She went to every softball game, every singing competition, every school event, every doctor's appointment and all of the things in between. Somehow she still had enough time to be a good friend, a compassionate mother and a loyal daughter. She also fostered animals and had a deep love for every little creature. Everyone that knew her would tell you about her sense of humor, which never wavered. She would make the best out of any situation that came about in her life. She enjoyed life and was a fierce defender of her family. She always spoke her mind and stood up for what was right no matter how uncomfortable it could have been. She enjoyed the sun and swimming every minute during the summer she could.
Theresa also had a deep love for Jesus. Christ was a firm foundation for her. She knew exactly where she was going when she left this world. She was kind to everyone she met. Throughout her whole life, she remained humble and down to earth.
Later in life, Theresa was blessed with a grandson, Gabriel Aleczander May. She saw him come into this world with tears streaming down her face and until her last moment on earth, she was here for him. She quickly moved out of Arkansas and in with them to help support her daughter in raising him. The relationship and bond they shared is beyond words that can be written. They filled each other's hearts with immeasurable joy and love. Their bond transcended generations, embodying the essence of unconditional love and deep connection.
She also had a very special bond with her nephew Jake (Brittany) Cunningham of Colorado Springs and held his hand much of the time in the week before her passing.
Theresa is survived by her two children, Christopher (Ashley) Moore of Des Moines, and Madison Darr of Colorado Springs, CO; one grandchild, Gabriel May of Colorado Springs; her dear lifelong friend, Julie Tucker of Beebe Arkansas; and her brother-in-law Ron Johnstonof Norwalk IA; as well as many other nephews, nieces and friends loved dearly. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Darr; her parents, Herman and Shirley; and sisters, Jeanie Johnston and Sandra Smith.
Theresa leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion, commitment to family, integrity and laughter. She is now at peace in Heaven with her family and Husband at her side. She will forever be missed and never forgotten. The memories she made and lives she touched will continue to be passed down throughout generations. Theresa's memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her, a testament to the profound impact she had on countless lives. As she finds eternal rest with her departed loved ones, Theresa's spirit will forever watch over her family, guiding them with love and light through their journeys ahead.
