She later attended college at Drake and DMACC. Her marriage to Paul “Jerry” Jerome Brittain took place on June 6, 1959 at the Basilica of St. John in Des Moines. Therese worked for many years as a bookkeeper at Brittain’s Standard Parts as well as being a homemaker raising her children. She also worked several years for Madison County’s elderly services providing meals at the multipurpose center. She loved flowers and gardening and also could be found at many auctions since she loved collecting antiques; but more than anything, she loved her family and any time spent with them. She was not one to join many groups but she did serve as President of the Community Child Care which eventually became Generations Child Care as well as being a Jaycee Ette. Therese is survived by her five children, Mark (Christy) Brittain of Winterset; Chris (Cindy) Brittain of Des Moines; Charlotte (Jay Becker) Brittain of Adel; Jill Gatlin of Winterset; Sara (Terry Stephens) Brittain of Winterset; eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings, Mary Mullin of Sioux City; Kay Mullin of Austin, TX; Joe (Rosemary) Mullin of Pleasant Hill; Helen Mullin of Yutan, NE; Bill (Pat) Mullin of Arnolds Park; Tom (Janet) Mullin of Bloomington, MN; several nieces, nephews and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Jerry in 1995; a brother, John Mullin and a sister, Margaret Babl.
