Tom Crall, 82, of Urbandale, passed away on February 5, 2022. Tom was born on a farm near Melrose on October 19, 1939, to Robert and Helen (Brugos) Crall. He graduated from Melrose High school and Northeast Missouri State Teacher’s College. He spent his professional career in the insurance business. However, his heart never left the farm. He liked talking with farmers about the crops, weather, and farm prices. He enjoyed raising cattle, attending cattle auctions, and taking trips to cattle ranches in ND, SD, MT, and WY. Tom was an avid sports fan especially of the Iowa Hawkeyes. Tom is survived by his wife, Kathleen (Kearney); children, Tom (Kristi), Mindy (Bryan), and Matt (Kate); grandchildren, Taylor, Kaylin, and Chloe Crall; Gavin, Macy and Annika Bjork, and Emma and Charlie Crall; brothers, Bernard (Marian), Ed (Sally), Denny (Cheryl), Greg, and Steve (Jeanne); sisters, Barb Kurimski, Mary Jo (Lowell) Beary, and Lorraine (Pete) Heles. He also survived by a large extended family and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Bob, and sisters: Phyllis (Hal) Doran and Martha (Louie) Flattery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Friday, February 11, with a vigil service beginning at 6:30 p.m. at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home in Urbandale. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, February 12, at St. Pius X Catholic Church with a luncheon following. Burial will be at 3:00 p.m. at the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Weller, IA. The family requests that all in attendance please wear a mask.
