Thomas Joseph Lupardus, age 73, passed into eternal life on Good Friday April 14, 2017. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 19th, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Adel with burial at Resurrection Cemetery near Guthrie Center. Friends may call Tuesday after 2:00 p.m. at McCalley Funeral Home in Adel where family will greet friends from 5:00 to 7:00 pm with a vigil at 7:00 p.m. Thomas was born August 12, 1943, in Des Moines, IA to Carroll and Doris Lupardus. He married Karen Deardorff on January 25, 1967, in Panora, IA. Thomas received his Bachelor Degree in Music Education from Northwest Missouri State, Maryville, MO. Thomas enjoyed his music teaching years at Anita, IA; Denver, IA; and Dallas Center Grimes School District, Dallas Center, IA. After teaching for 11 years, he worked at Rieman Music in Des Moines and later years was a small business owner. Thomas was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church in Adel, IA and St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Perry, IA. His greatest joy was the time he spent with his wife, Karen and sons, Timothy and Matthew, traveling and camping throughout 48 states. He loved spending time in his shop woodworking and restoring old jeeps. He also enjoyed jeeping in Colorado with his family and friends. Thomas is survived by his wife, Karen, and his two sons and their families. Timothy and his wife Marsha live in Ames, IA, with their daughters Lily and Sophie. Matthew and his wife Stephanie live in Chicago, IL. He was preceded in death by his infant son, Jeffrey. Memorial contributions may be directed to Spurgeon Manor or St. John’s Catholic Church.
