Thomas 'Tom' J. Johnson

Tom was born January 7, 1949 in Des Moines, Iowa, the son of Frank O. and Mary E. (Van Haaften) Johnson. Tom is survived by his parents Frank and Mary Johnson of Peru; his children, Tracey Kelly of Arispe; Tommy Johnson and wife, Melissa of Winterset, Danialle Hoffman and husband, Zach of Polk City; Jeremiah Johnson and wife Katrina of Winterset; Jackie Johnson-Smith and husband Tom of West Des Moines; his four sisters, Nanci Iiams of Cedar Rapids; Darlene Miller and husband Gene of Peru; Joy Miller and husband Marlan of Peru and Rosemary McDaniel and husband Kerry of Pleasantville and 11 grandchildren. During his working career Tom drove a truck, worked construction and was a welder. Tom was a member of the Peru Methodist Church. He played guitar in a band and loved music. He also loved cars, from repairing them to selling them, he absolutely loved anything to do with them. Visitation: 2:00 to 8:00 p.m., Monday, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. May 11, 2009 at Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare, Winterset, Iowa. Service: 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, May 12, 2009 at Peru Methodist Church, Peru, Iowa. Memorial: Memorials may be directed to Tom’s family.
