Thuy G. Pham of West Des Moines, age 64, passed away after a long battle with health complications on Friday, November 18th, 2016, at Fountain West Nursing Home in West Des Moines. He was born March 17th, 1952, in Vietnam to Thuc Pham and Thieu Tran. Thuy was a marine in the Vietnam War; he lost an eye in the war and has a glass eye on the right side. He and his family moved to the United States in fall of 1994 through sponsorship by his younger sister and brother in law. He started his new life in the U.S. by taking ESL classes at Proteus Inc. and working full time as a mail sorter at Mail Services. Thuy then transferred jobs to EMCO as a Quality Control inspector. Everyone described Thuy as a friendly, caring, hardworking, outgoing, and very loving person; he will be greatly missed. Thuy is survived by his wife, Kim Nguyen; sons, Nicholas & Patrick Pham; daughters, SueAnn Pham & Huy Vu; his mother and many brothers, sisters, nephews, nieces and cousins. Family, friends, and others whose lives Thuy has touched are invited to the Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home & Crematory, 8201 Hickman Rd, Urbandale, IA 50322, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, November 25th, 2016, to reminisce, grieve, support each other and of course, just chat. Those wishing to attend his funeral, it will be held at St. Peter Catholic Church, 612 E 18th St, Des Moines, IA 50316 at 10 a.m. on Saturday, November 26th 2016.
