Timothy Donald Mccollum

Timothy Donald McCollum, 66, of Adel, IA, passed away on Tuesday, August 16, 2016, surrounded by his family. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 19, 2016 at the United Methodist Church in Adel with burial at Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter. Friends may call after 2:00 p.m. Thursday, August 18th at McCalley Funeral Home in Adel where family will greet friends from 5:00 to 7:00 pm with prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Tim was born to A. Donald McCollum and Ruth Langford McCollum on November 11, 1949 in Jefferson, IA. Tim graduated from Jefferson High School in 1968 and joined the Army National Guard in Jefferson in 1969. Tim served 10 years in the Army National Guard before transferring to the Army Reserves and completing 10 more years of service. Tim worked for Culligan in Jefferson and Storm Lake, IA, before coming to farm with his brother-in-law, Dallas Bowman, for 30 years. After retiring from farming he enjoyed driving an armored truck and sweet corn delivery truck. Tim married Celia Renner in 1970 and they moved to Adel in 1973 to raise their family. Tim is survived by two children: Diana (Matt) Bonus and Trent McCollum. Tim also enjoyed spending time with all of the grandchildren, Timothy, Kolton, Madelyn, Samuel, Kaitlyn, Kaleb, Joseph, Macey, and Garrett. Tim is preceded in death by daughter Amanda McCollum and by both of his parents. Memorial contributions may be directed to Tim’s family for future designation.
