Our Brother Todd left this earth after a brief, but difficult Health battle. A fighter until the end, he passed away on December 18th, 2021. Todd was born on July 2, 1968, to Ronald and Nancy Bales in Des Moines, Iowa. Todd attended Lincoln High school. After High School Todd mastered working with his hands in many Genres, including drywalling, remodeling and he was also an avid builder, being a master in any trade he worked in. Todd was always happy to help a family member like his sister when they took off more than they could chew with her own projects. Todd was also very good with mechanics and helped many friends and family without any expectations. While at a young age Todd met Dawn (Baker) Logston. Together they had two beautiful children which Dawn raised. First born was Blaire Sheffield of Mustang, Oklahoma, and then Jake Baker of Kansas City, Missouri. Todd met Nicole, shortly after that and they wed June 5, 1994, Manson, Iowa. During their marriage they made three beautiful children. Todd Jay (TJ), Allison and Kassy, all of Fort Dodge, Iowa. We recently found out about an addition to the family of TJ and Chelsea, a grandchild, coming in 2022. Such a blessing! Although he didn’t say it enough, he is proud and grateful for both women and how they raised such independent, humble, grateful, and beautiful children. He loved and was proud of each one of them. In recent years Todd worked at Furniture Professionals as a skilled craftsman for many years and enjoyed riding his Harley, and spending time with his brothers. He was an introvert to say the least, but his hobbies were all “fixing stuff”. Todd was a man of very few words and never complained about anything and was a very private person. If you knew him, you loved him. He was a very generous and giving human with a guarded heart. Todd was an important part of his family and will be dearly missed and always remembered. Todd was preceded in death by his parents, Ronald and Nancy Bales, his brothers Tim Bales, Brian Bales and chosen brother Jerry Smith. His nephews Aaron Esdohr, Alexander Esdohr and Caleb Esdohr. He is survived by his children, Blaire Sheffield of Mustang, Oklahoma, and Jake Baker of Kansas City, Missouri. Todd Jay (TJ) (Chelsea) Allison and Kassy Waldschmidt, all of Fort Dodge, Iowa. His brothers Kevin Bales, Jerry Bales, Kenny Bales, and Shawn Bales all of Des Moines, Iowa and one sister Rhonda Karimi of Arizona. Todd also has a plethora of loving nieces and nephews, cousins and friends that will miss him dearly. Celebration of Life Services will be announced once the family has determined a date. Memorial donations can be sent to the family members to help with memorial costs.
