Tom was born July 2, 1946 in Shawnee, Oklahoma, the son of Darrel and Mary Louise (Shaw) Phillips. He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandmother. He served in the United State Army and most recently was a Construction Superintendent for Oakview Construction, with offices in Red Oak and Des Moines, Iowa. Tom previously worked as a carpenter for the V.A. Hospital in Knoxville and was maintenance manager for Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. He served as Fire Chief for the Knoxville rural fire department and was involved with the Knoxville little league program; umpiring and coaching softball and baseball. Tom was an avid fan of the Oklahoma Sooners. Tom is survived by two daughters, Alyssa Jean Phillips of Coralville, Iowa and Amy Beth Isenhart and husband, Jeremy also of Coralville; one son, Joseph D. Phillips and wife, Kelly of San Diego, California; one grandchild, Kaya Phillip Isenhart and one expectant grandchild; his companion, Deena McDonald of Winterset; one sister, Glenda Thacker and husband, Larry of Farmington, New Mexico; and three brothers, Ralph Roland of Oregon, Rick Cowan of Waxahachie, Texas, and Mike Cowan of Duncan, Oklahoma.
