Thomas Larry Hingst, 75 of Des Moines died Nov. 11th, 2021 from chronic illness at MercyOne Medical Center. He was born on October 22nd, 1946. He was the first born son of Paul and Alice Hingst. He married Patricia on February 14th, 1976 in Burlington, Iowa. Thomas went into the Navy right after High school graduation where he spent 3 years on the USS Joseph P. Kennedy JR. DD850. After the Navy, he worked construction, some warehouse work, and eventually worked for the post office until he retired after 25 years. He enjoyed family gatherings and spending time with his granddaughter, and two sons, and of course, Hawkeye & Green bay games. He enjoyed traveling with his wife and family. He was a loving son, brother, husband, father, and grandfather. Thomas leaves behind his wife Patricia “Pat” of 45 years; two sons, Sean and Ryan; granddaughter Ellie; siblings Mary Bright-Hingst, Barbara Hingst, Mark Hingst, Sally Hingst, David Hingst, Becky Hingst, John Hingst, Roger Hingst, Eric Hingst and Michelle Turnbull; plus many nieces and nephews. He was proceeded in death by his parents Paul & Alice Hingst; siblings Melissa Standard, Jane Hingst, Christal Hingst, Christina Hingst, and Gregory Hingst. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 17th from 11:30-12:30 p.m. at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home & Crematory, 8201 Hickman Rd., Urbandale, IA 50322. A service will follow at 12:30 p.m. at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home & Crematory. Following the service, a graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery.
