Trent Lumley

Trent Lumley, 54, passed away on December 14, 2023. He was born on April 4, 1969 to Donald and Sheila “Eichmann” Lumley in Mankato, Minnesota.

Trent, a devoted individual whose life was marked by unwavering service, dedication and a passion for both the community and family. He served his country with honor and distinction, dedicating 20 years of his life to the National Guard which during that time, he underwent two deployments, bravely serving in both Afghanistan and Iraq. His commitment to protecting and serving extended beyond his military career, as he devoted another two decades to the Polk County Sheriff's Office, leaving an indelible impact on the community he cherished.

Outside of his professional commitments, Trent found joy and relaxation on the golf course, where he honed his skills and shared countless memorable moments with friends. His love for golf reflected his appreciation for life's simple pleasures and the camaraderie that comes with shared interests. He was also an avid fisherman. Whether surrounded by his sons on a fishing trip or enjoying a quiet moment alone, he cherished the tranquility of those waters and the thrill of the catch.

Trent's true joy, however, lay in the time spent with his beloved family and friends. Whether on the golf course, gathered around the dinner table, or enjoying quiet moments at home, he treasured the bonds forged through laughter, love, and shared experiences.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 24 years, Melanie; children, Brayden, Kiley and Brice; sister, Lex (Mike); aunt, Carol Finlayson; and uncles, Arlen Eichmann, Darryl Lumley and Garry Lumley. He is preceded in death by his parents.

A visitation will be held on Monday, December 18, 2023 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 19, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church. Family will greet friends one hour prior. Burial will be held at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery at 12:30 p.m.
