Gertrude "Trudy" Pryce Beattie, daughter of Ralph S. Pryce and Sarah May Wilson Pryce, was born May 30, 1926 in Hebron, Nebraska and died April 5, 2006 at the Dallas County Hospital in Perry, Iowa at the age of 79 years, 10 months and 5 days. Trudy as she was well known grew up in Hebron, Nebraska and later graduated from high school in Clarinda, Iowa where she was the Valedictorian and Representative Girl for the Class of 1943. After high school, Trudy attended the University of Nebraska and then later Iowa State College. After college, she went to work at the University Of Nebraska College Of Medicine where she met Dr. John Beattie. On April 6, 1950 Trudy was united in marriage to Dr. John Lear Beattie at the First Presbyterian Church in Omaha, Nebraska. They were the proud parents of two children: Richard and Kristen. In 1960, the family moved to Creston, Iowa where Trudy stayed very busy holding leadership positions in charitable and political organizations on both the local and state levels. In 1972, the family moved to Tabor, Iowa before settling in Perry, Iowa in 1974, where they have lived ever since. Trudy was an accomplished musician and served a number of churches as an organist and pianist. She was also an avid reader, but music was her first love. Trudy was a member of P.E.O Chapter OK. Trudy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Dr. John Beattie; her daughter: Kristen Friedman; and her granddaughter: Diana Beattie. She is survived by her son: Richard Beattie (Colleen) of Perry, Iowa; her sister: Harriet Shockney of Indianapolis, Indiana; her son-in-law: Mark Friedman of Booneville, Iowa; brother-in-law: Richard L. Beattie of Sun City West, Arizona; 3 grandchildren: Ian Friedman, Kara Friedman and Jonathan Beattie; great-grandson: Chance Friedman; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
