Velda "Jean" Branam

Jean Branam, 90, of Adel went home to be with the Lord on January 9, 2019. Jean was born September 5, 1928 in Greenfield, Iowa. On January 30, 1949 she was united in marriage to David W. Branam and they were blessed with a son, Timothy in 1963. Jean worked at the telephone company in Adel for many years and then as a police dispatcher for the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office until her retirement. Jean & Dave loved spending time with their three grandchildren and especially spending time in northern Minnesota fishing with the family each summer. Jean loved to cook and had an impressive collection of cookbooks and magazines. Jean was an active member at the Faith Lutheran Church in Adel where she enjoyed cooking for the crisis center. She was a humble and faithful servant of God Jean was preceded in death by her husband, David; infant son, David Douglas; three brothers, Harry Havens, Marion Havens, and Bob Kuhns. She is survived by her son, Tim (Margie) Branam of Adel, IA; grandchildren, Kristen (Kyle) Stump, Granger, IA; Cody Branam, Adel, IA; and MacKenzie Branam, Streeter, ND; and four great-grandchildren, Avery (5), Benjamin (2), Emma (2), and Turner (3 mo). Jean’s wishes were to be cremated with no services. A private family graveside service will be held in the spring. Memorial contributions may be made to Faith Lutheran Church in Adel, IA.
