September 11, 1921 — February 19, 2015

A service for Veona M Fisher was held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at Hastings Funeral Home in Perry. Visitation was held one hour prior to the service. Pastor Tim Johnson of the First Christian Church in Perry, Iowa provided words of comfort. Casket bearers were: Matt Azpetia, Jeremy Camp, Ryan Camp, David Fisher, Jim Buhler and Gary Fredricson. Elta Summerson was the pianist. Hymns selected were What A Wonderful World, The Old Rugged Cross, Amazing Grace and My Way. Interment took place at the Rippey Cemetery. Veona M. Fisher, daughter of Abijah and Mamie Nicholas, was born September 11, 1921 in Rippey, Iowa and passed away peacefully at home in Griffith, Indiana Wednesday, February 18, 2015. She was an Avon Lady for over 25 years and a member of the Avon Presidents Club. She loved to crochet and enjoyed crafting Afghans, potholders and hand towels for her family. In her youth Veona helped her father in his Blacksmith Shop and tend to his fruit trees. Veona enjoyed cooking and baking especially her famous Christmas cookies. Veona was preceded in death by her husband Carl E. Fisher, daughter Jeanette M. Fisher, three brothers and two sisters. Veona is survived by her son Leon Fisher; granddaughters: Debbie (Gerald) Tolliver, Teresa (Jim Buehler) Tatge and Cindy Camp; great grandchildren: Tabitha (Mike) Steele, Amber Azpeitia, Matt Azpeitia, Amanda Tatge, Jeremy Camp, Ryan Camp; great great grandchildren: Alex Azpeitia, Tyler Azpeitia, Connor Steele, Shay Azpeitia, Aubree Steele, Clarity Azpeitia, Mia Azpeitia.
