Vicky Lee

Vicky Lee, 72, of Lamoni, IA passed away peacefully on Friday, February 16, 2024 at Lamoni Specialty Care.

Vicky was born in Chicago Heights, IL on November 15, 1951 to Delbert Lee and Marilyn (Coe) Lee. She was raised alongside her two siblings, Dell and Valerie, and graduated from Loveland High school in 1970. From there she attended Aims Community College and Colorado State University, and graduated from IBMC in 2007 with a degree in medical billing and coding. She also became a certified nursing assistant in 1985.

Vicky met the love of her life, David Sowder, and the two were married on March 14, 1971 in Loveland, Colorado. The two spent 31 years together and had 3 children, Darren, Jessica, and Sara Beth. Viky spent her life taking care of others. Whether it was her children or the residents at a nursing home, she loved caring for those in need and showing compassion. She will be remembered as a loving mother, sister, and friend to many.

Vicky was preceded in death by her parents; her daughters, Jessica Lynn and Sarah Beth Sowder, and her sister, Valarie Hoover.

She is survived by her son, Daren Sowder; her brother, Dell (Annette) Lee; her brother-in-law, Jim Hoover as well as 7 nieces, 2 granddaughters, and 2 great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life for Vicky will be held at 11:00 am on March 9, 2024 at the Community Center in Davis City, IA with lunch being served. Online condolences can be made at caldwellparrish.com.
