Victoria Bernice (Glenn) Ferin, 64, of Urbandale, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 3, 2022. Visitation will be held Friday, May 6 from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Urbandale. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in memory of Vicki at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 7, 2022 at St. Pius. Burial will be held following the funeral service at Glendale Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Caldwell Parrish. Vicki was born in Sioux City, Iowa on May 26, 1957, the youngest of 6 children born to Richard and Mary Glenn. She brought so much joy as the baby of the family. Her fun, outgoing personality was a blessing to everyone in her childhood and defined her throughout her life. After graduating from Dowling in 1975, she went on to get a degree from Iowa State University. Vicki always said the things she wanted most in life were to be a wife, mother and grandmother. She married the love of her life and college sweetheart, Joe, on March 19, 1982. Their marriage was blessed with four children; Joseph, Andrew, Natalie and James. As her children married, she welcomed each daughter and son-in-law into the family as if they were her own. She was so proud of her 11 grandchildren and found special ways to connect with each, acknowledging and celebrating their different personalities and interests. Vicki never knew a stranger. She had countless friends and a God-given gift for making everyone around her feel loved. Vicki’s profound faith in the Catholic Church was the guiding principal of her life and was demonstrated in her calling as Pastoral Care Coordinator at St. Pius. She found it a remarkable experience witnessing fellow parishioners draw closer to Heaven. The family would like to thank all the talented medical professionals that helped Vicki throughout the last 15 months; specifically Dr. Jan Franko and Dr. Brad Hiatt, and their staffs. We would like to extend a very special thank you to Nurse Karen with Mercy Hospice for her care and guidance. Our heartfelt thanks to David & Karen Ferin, who have supported the family through the last few weeks; as well as family members and friends who have sent their love. Vicki is survived by her husband, Joe, and their children, Joe (Tiffany), Andrew (Megan), Natalie (Patrick Lawson) and Jimmy (Katie); her grandchildren Nora, Joey and Michael Ferin; Louie, Tony and Vinny Ferin; Max and Jack Lawson; and Jordy, Gigi and Cameron Ferin; her sisters Cookie (Bob) Van Gilder, Barb (Larry) James, and Carolyn (Tom) Summers and many nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Richard & Mary Glenn; her brothers, Dick (Joan) and Jim (Diane) Glenn. In lieu of flowers, Vicki asks that donations be directed to Mary’s Meals Charity (www.marysmeals.org) or St. Pius X Catholic Church.
