Viola Mae (Hartman) Younker

April 22, 1932 — January 13, 2005

Viola was born April 22, 1932 in Commerce, Iowa, the daughter of Arthur and Opal (Cooper) Hartman. She lived in Commerce until she was 2 when the family moved to Valley Junction, Iowa. In 1943 the family moved to Winterset. She graduated from the Winterset High School in 1951. She married Lesley Harold Younker on October 7, 1954 in Centerville and to this union three children were born. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Deborah Ann Younker; her father, Arthur Hartman and her stepfather, Otis Huddleson. Vi was a homemaker all of her life as well as working with Emco Industries for 17 years. She also babysat for 10 years before she retired. She loved working outside and spending time with her grandson, Jason. Vi is survived by her husband of 50 years, Les Younker of Waukee; her daughter, Cindy Younker of Waukee, her son Clint Younker of Waukee, her mother Opal Huddleson; 2 brothers, Dale (Kate) Hartman, Steve (Beccy) Hartman; a sister, Marylou Johnson (Lester of Rock Springs, WY), all of Winterset, and her grandson Jason Younker and fianc e Amber Owen of Urbandale. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. Moon Cemetery, rural Macksburg. Visitation: 2:00 to 5:00 p.m., Sunday January 16, 2005 at Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare. Service: 10:30 a.m., Monday January 17, 2005 at Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare. Memorial: Memorial contributions may be directed to the Taylor House in Des Moines.
