Vivian Elsie Marks, 89, passed away on January 7th, 2012 in Mesa, AZ. The daughter of Alfred and Leo (Morse) Thompson, Vivian was born December 18, 1922, in Minburn, IA. It was in Scranton, IA, where she met her husband, Marvin Marks. They moved to Jefferson, IA where they raised a family of three children: Ron Marks (Bobby) of Milford, IA; Yvonne Zeka (Ron) of Chandler, AZ; and Dean Marks (Barb) of Mesa, AZ. During her life, Vivian was a homemaker, a certified cosmetologist, a part-time model for hair and cosmetic products, and a book keeper for a plumbing business. Ten years after Marvin died, Vivian moved to Mesa, AZ where she took duties as Superintendent of Sunday School at Velda Rose Methodist Church. She also kept active by taking educational courses, helping at church events and supporting family members. In addition to her three children, Vivian is survived by eight grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. Hastings Funeral Home in Jefferson is in charge of burial arrangements. No local services are being planned. Vivian's cremains will be interned at a later date in Jefferson Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers, memorials in her name are suggested to a local Hospice Unit.
