Wade Jones

Wade Jones, 19, of Iowa City, formerly of Winterset, passed away Saturday, July 13, 2013. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m., Friday, July 19, at the New Bridge Church in Winterset. A visitation with family present will be held from 2 to 8 p.m., Thursday, July 18 at Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare in Winterset. Burial will be in the Winterset Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to a fund established at the Union State Bank of Winterset. Douglas Wade Jones was born in Des Moines, Iowa on March 24, 1994; the son of Douglas Jones and Brenda (Rogers) Jones. He was a 2012 graduate of Winterset High School and was taking courses through the University of Phoenix. He worked for Fareway in Winterset and most recently, North Liberty. In high school, Wade was involved with the scuba club, wrestling, cross country, football, golf, and a building trades class. He enjoyed fishing, U of I sports, playing X-Box, and rap music. Wade especially enjoyed spending time with his girlfriend, Sammy. He is survived by his parents, Douglas Jones and Brenda Jones both of Winterset; sister, Haley Jones of Winterset; brother Payton Jones of Truro; grandparents, Doug and Patty Slagter of St. Charles and Jim and Faye Jones of Winterset; great grandmother, Marsha Rogers of Winterset; special cousin, Mariah McDonald; many more cousins and extended family; and girlfriend, Sammy Perryman. Wade was preceded in death by his great grandfather, Leo Rogers; and a cousin, Jeffrey Jones.
