Warren Andrew Bender, son of William Bender and Anna Walker Bender was born May 12, 1914 in Keswick, Iowa and died October 9, 2004 at the Fountain West Health Center in West Des Moines, Iowa at the age of 90 years, 4 months, and 27 days. Warren moved to Perry, Iowa as a young child and was a lifelong Perry resident. He attended St. Patrick Catholic School in Perry. After he finished school he immediately began farming. On January 15, 1940, Warren was united in marriage to Esther Hastie at the St. Patrick Catholic Church in Perry, Iowa. They were the parents of three children: Ronald, Joy and Nancy. They made their home on a farm near Perry until moving into town in 1957. Warren continued to farm until 1980. Warren and Esther enjoyed wintering in Arizona for 17 years before they began enjoying the Iowa winters again in 1983. Warren still enjoyed to travel as well as play cards and golf. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Perry, Iowa. Warren in preceded in death by his parents, his wife Esther, three sisters: Eveline Hurd, Mary Schuhardt and Leona McHenry; and six brothers: Leo, Raymond, Howard, Joseph, Orville and Art Bender. He is survived by his son: Ronald Bender and his wife Jeanette of Orion, Illinois; his daughters: Joy Hawbaker and her husband Robert of Bella Vista, Arkansas and Nancy Luckow and her husband Lyle of Grimes, Iowa; 4 grandchildren: Tony Hawbaker and his wife Barbara of Urbandale, Iowa, Mike Hawbaker and his wife Ruth Anne of Earlham, Iowa, Kent Bender and his wife Pamela of Lee's Summit, Missouri, and Kevin Bender of Libertyville, Illinois; 8 great-grandchildren: Amber, Mandy, Cody, Kayla, Justin, Brad, Kirby and Kelsi; and one great-great grandchild: Bryce, other relatives and many friends.
