Warren R. Kirkland

Warren was born December 3, 1939 in Afton, Iowa, the son of Ralph ‘Bussy’ and Leona (McDonald) Kirkland. His marriage to Betty Blazer took place on July 31, 1960 at the First United Methodist Church in Winterset. He is survived by his wife, Betty Kirkland of Winterset; his mother, Leona Kirkland of Winterset; 3 daughters, Cynthia (Jerry) Sevier of Orient; Sheri (Michael) Berry of Haysville, KS; Kathy (Ken) Tynan of Des Moines; 2 brothers, Carl (Peggy) Kirkland of Lorimor; Ronald (Denise) Kirkland of Macksburg; 5 grandchildren (Spencer and Megan Leitzel, Michael, Krystal and Paige Berry) and several nieces and nephews. His father, Ralph Kirkland, and a niece, Brenda Smith, preceded him in death. Warren was a farmer most of his life. He worked part-time with the ASCS office in Winterset, was a federal crop insurance adjustor, and later became a FSA director in Donnellson, Iowa. He also drove truck for McKenzie (hauling hogs), did custom farming, and hauled propane for Virgil Smith. Warren was a member of the Iowa Pork Producers and Cattleman’s Associations, was president of Farm Bureau and served on the board for several years. He was also the recipient of the Friends of Farmer Award from the Pork Producers and was a Honorary FFA Member of the Orient-Macksburg FFA Chapter. Visitation: 1:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday where family will be present to receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. December 29, 2005 at Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare in Winterset. Service: 10:30 a.m., Friday December 30, 2005 at United Methodist Church, Macksburg, Iowa Memorial: Memorial contributions may be directed to the family.
