Wayne Francis Burgett

Wayne Burgett, age 90 of Perry, passed away on Monday, January 10, 2022, at the MercyOne West Des Moines Medical Center in West Des Moines, IA. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 15, 2022, at 10:30 a.m. at the Carris Family Funeral Home & Cremation Care in Perry. Burial will be in the Violet Hill Cemetery at Perry. Everyone is encouraged to wear face coverings and practice social distancing while attending visitation and services. In lieu of flowers, memorials will be given to the Perry Public Library or Perry Bible Church and may be left at the Carris Family Funeral Home & Cremation Care. Online condolences may be left at www.carrisfuneralhome.com. Wayne Francis Burgett was born on September 6, 1931, at Des Moines, IA to Curtis Ray and Imogene Mae (Baker) Burgett. He graduated from Lincoln High School in Des Moines, IA. He served his country during the Korean War in the United States Army. He was united in marriage to Dorothy Mae Harger at Grace Baptist Church in Des Moines, IA on November 6, 1951. He worked at Bruce Motor Freight, and the Perry Lutheran Home. He was a Union Steward for Teamsters Union. He enjoyed putting together puzzles, doing artwork, his Green Bay Packers, Kansas City Chiefs, and Chicago Cubs Baseball. He loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. In death he rejoins his wife Dorothy, parents Curtis and Imogene Burgett, a brother Rex Burgett, son-in-law Richard Kestel, and his stepmom Marian Burgett. Left to cherish Waynes memory are his children Don (Vikki) Burgett, West Des Moines, IA, Suzanne Kestel, Perry, IA and Laura (Bob) Heath, Grand Junction, IA, grandchildren Chris (Carrie) Burgett, Cynthia (Jamey) King, Chad (Angie) Burgett, Paul (Nicole) Kestel and Sarah (Nathan) Compton, great grandchildren Mikayla, Moriah, Jadon, Judah, MaKenna and Alanah King, Ethan and Luke Burgett, Kolby, Bailey and Atley Kestel and Oliver and Lulah Compton, siblings Karl (Shirley) Burgett, Signe Burns, Kirk (Judy) Burgett, sister-in-law Dorothy Burgett, and his fur grandchildren Cooper, Abigail and Daisie Mae.
