Wendell Dwight Dillivan, son of Lloyd Dillivan and Reaka Annette Heuton Dillivan, was born June 11, 1918 on a farm in Carroll County, Iowa and died October 3, 2005 at the Greene County Medical Center in Jefferson, Iowa at the age of 87 years, 3 months and 23 days. Wendell grew up in Carroll and Greene County and attended a country school. After school Wendell joined the United States Army and was stationed at Ft. Lewis, Washington with the 133rd Engineers. On March 11, 1943 Wendell was united in marriage to Vivian Isabell Mallett in Maryville, Missouri. They were the proud parents of one son Dwight. They made their home at Ft. Lewis, Washington until Wendell was honorably discharged from the service at which time they moved to Jefferson, Iowa. They have lived in Jefferson ever since and have lived in their current residence for 58 years. Wendell stayed busy working construction. He was often on the road during the summers following work. Wendell was a man that truly loved his work. Wendell had a collection of old horse shoes. He would often find them in old barns and other buildings that he would tear down. Wendell was a 50 years plus member of the Floyd W. Brown American Legion Post #11. Wendell was preceded in death by his parents; a sister Velma who died at infancy, and a brother Larry. He is survived by his wife Vivian of Jefferson; his son: Dwight Dillivan of Grand Junction, Iowa; 2 sisters: Marcella Smith and her husband Raymond of Jefferson, Iowa and Waunita Collogan of Grand Junction; 1 brother: Maurice Dillivan and his wife LaJane of Rippey, Iowa; 1 sister-in-law: Marilyn Dillivan of Urbandale, Iowa; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
