Mass of Christian Burial for William Ronald Jenkins was celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 7, 2013 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Perry. Father Paul Nguyen of St. Patrick Catholic Church was the Celebrant. Visitation was held on Friday at Hastings Funeral Home in Perry. The Lector was Patricia Jenkins and Eucharistic Ministers were Carole and Bill O'Hare. Gift bearers were Larry Jenkins and Harry Hilliker. Honorary Casket bearers were Harry Hilliker, Ty Enderson, Bill Jenkins, Marc Jenkins, Tom Huygens and Jim Huygens. Ushers were Jim Galligan and Bill O'Hare. Chuck Schott was the Musician. Burial took place at Violet Hill Cemetery in Perry. William Ronald Jenkins, son of Agnes Muir and Arthur Reginald Jenkins, was born on March 20, 1925 at Ottertail, Minnesota and died November 29, 2013 at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames at the age of 88 years, 8 months and 9 days. Bill's family moved to rural Perry at the age of five years where he attended rural school and then graduated from the Perry High School in 1942. Bill helped on his father's farm until 1946 when he entered the United States Army. Bill served two years and then on April 26, 1948 married Anna Marie Rohner at the St. Patrick Catholic Church in Perry. They were the parents of three children; Larry, Nancy and James. The couple farmed for two more years and then moved to Perry. Bill worked at Raccoon Implement for thirteen years and then at the North Central Public Service Gas Company where he retired in 1986. Bill enjoyed country and western music, woodworking and reading. He also fished, played cards and watched movies and was a history buff. Bill was a member of the St. Patrick Catholic Church where he ushered for many years and was a past commander for the American Legion. Bill was preceded in death by his parents Agnes and Arthur; his loving wife Anna Marie; an infant son-James Edward: longtime friend Joyce Lutz; brother's Albert, Robert and Ed and sister Henrietta Hewitt. Bill is survived by and will be lovingly remembered by his son Larry W. Jenkins (Patricia) of Ames; daughter Nancy Ann Hilliker (Andrew) of St. Louis, Missouri; two grandchildren: Harry and Marianne Hilliker; sister Margaret Ann Huygens (Don) of Mason City, Iowa; sister-in-law Dorothy Rohner of Minnesota; nieces and nephews and many friends.
