William Clark

October 16, 1939 — February 17, 2025

Clive

William Boyd Clark, 85, of Clive, IA, passed away Monday, February 17, 2025 at his home with his wife and daughter by his side.

Bill was born on October 16, 1939, the son of John and Maxine (Woodyard) Clark in Des Moines. He was born, raised, and lived his entire life in the Des Moines area. Bill attended Roosevelt High School and was an excellent baseball player and overall athlete. After high school, he attended Iowa State University and later Drake University where he received his bachelors degree, as well as his masters degree in Social Work. Bill worked for Polk County Mental Health Center, which later became known as Eyerly Ball. He was married to Ramona White in December of 1965 in Des Moines, and they welcomed their daughter Amber in December of 1974.

Bill was a devout man who loved the Lord and eagerly shared his faith. He attended a number of churches and held leadership roles. He was dedicated to studying the Bible, and his analytical mind coupled with a thirst for knowledge led to a life rich in learning. Even in his final days, he remained committed to meeting with his men's Bible study group, asking questions and seeking understanding. Bill's life was centered on service, impacting countless lives throughout his journey. This was reflected in his decision to pursue a career as a mental health counselor and was also evident in the ways he helped others in need. Bill took the greatest pride in being a man who stood firm in what was right, unwavering in his values.

Bill loved working in the yard and spending time outside. He remained active throughout his life, enjoying bikes rides in his younger years, fishing, and walking. He was an avid sports fan who regularly watched Iowa's college basketball and football teams in action. Bill participated in political activities for more than 40 years, holding positions such as precinct chair, delegate, and serving on various committees. Additionally, he contributed in advisory and board roles for the Iowa Christian Alliance, now known as the Iowa Faith & Freedom Coalition.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Ramona Clark; daughter, Amber (Geoff Sandfort) Greves; grandchildren, Madison, Clark, and Lydia Greves, and Noah Sandfort; and cousins, Craig Clark, Kay Laske, and Barb Ekey. Preceding him in death are his parents; and brothers, Jackie Clark and David Clark.
