William Edwin 'Bill' Trapp

William Edwin (Bill) Trapp, born December 7, 1922 in Des Moines, Iowa passed away October 1, 2016 in his home, as he wished, in Lorimor, Iowa. His goal was to reach the age of 93 which he did accomplish. He was preceded in death by Shirley Marie his wife 69 years, his parents, and two sisters, Mary and Colleen. Their marriage was blessed with three children, Diane Kaye, David Ray and Gary Lynn Trapp; grandchildren, Jeff (Gretta), Jamie, Nicholas, David, Maddison, and Angie and great grandchildren, Nicholas, Claire, Jamie Marie, Billy, Tanner and Weston. He is also survived by two sisters, Wilma White of California and Florence Schaefer of Kansas; brother, Fred (Patty) Trapp of Des Moines; brother-in-law, Marion T. (Beulah) Nichols of Texas, many nieces, nephews and friends. Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 8 at McCalley Funeral Home in Adel with burial at Elmwood Cemetery near Minburn. Family will greet friends from 10:00 am until service time. Bill’s family wishes to extend special thanks to those at Unity Point Hospice of Des Moines, especially Stephanie, Noel and Amber, and requests memorial contributions be directed to the organization. Bill will be missed by many for his great laugh, the wonderful stories of his adventures, his work ethic and his integrity. He said he modeled his life after both his grandfathers who lived by their word. “If he said it, you can count on him doing it.” Even up to the morning of his death, when asked how he was, he answered, “Not bad for an old man”.
