William H. Brand

William Herbert Brand, son of James Herbert Brand and Mary Leah Price Brand, was born July 19, 1927 in Glidden, Iowa, and died April 25, 2009 at the Greene County Medical Center in Jefferson, Iowa, at the age of 81 years, 5 months and 6 days. Bill or Billy, as he was lovingly known, grew up in Glidden and attended school there. His father died when he was 12, and Bill farmed the land and did chores along with his sisters. In 1957 he and his mother purchased a farm south of Jefferson, known to some as the "Teagarden farm". In 1975, they sold the farm and moved into town. Bill then started his trucking business, mainly hauling livestock. He was preceded in death by his father in 1939 and his mother in 1977. He was also preceded by his sisters Leah Sinn and Dorothy Rockey. Bill is survived by his sister Marian Williams and husband Clayton Bakke; niece Sandy Stevenson and husband Larry; nephew Jim Williams and wife Chae all of Ankeny; nephews Terry Sinn and wife Michelle and Mike Sinn all of Warsaw, Missouri; 1 great nephew and 8 great nieces, other relatives and friends.
