William L. (Bill) Ross, 88, of Bondurant, Iowa died Saturday March 24, 2018 at Mercy Medical Center. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, April 2, 2018 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Elkhart, Iowa. Visitation will also be at St. Mary’s on Sunday, April 1 from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. with a vigil service at 5:00 p.m. Burial will be at Glendale Cemetery. Born December 1, 1929 to C. Edward and Jessie Mickle Ross, Bill was raised on farms in the Reasoner and Farrar, Iowa area. He graduated from Dowling High School in 1948. He married Kathryn (Kay) Flannery on September 15, 1951 and they had four children. They lived in Bondurant where Bill owned Ross Electric for over 40 years. He and Kay enjoyed traveling and Bill was an enthusiastic motorcyclist from his first Indian to his last Honda Gold Wing which he referred to as the Ross Electric two-wheel division. Bill inspired love and was loyal to his family and friends. He absolutely lived his faith. In his later years he gracefully accepted his crosses to bear and did it all with a humble heart, ever maintaining his fun-loving personality. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, and the Dowling Club. Bill is survived by Kay, his wife of 66 years, three daughters Buffy (Charlie) Hart, Ankeny, Iowa, Peggy (Kevin) Parker, Indianola, Iowa and Kate (Joe) Tinguely, Prior Lake, Minnesota, nine grandchildren Mary Beth Hart, Maggie Hart, Fr. Ross Parker, John (Rachael) Parker, Mary (Jeff) Ludwig and Joe (Gladis) Parker, Will Tinguely, Michael Tinguely, Brennan Tinguely, three great-grandchildren, daughter-in-law Carolyn Ross, three step-grandchildren Mark (Nicole) Jacobs, Chad (Amy) Ross, Letha Ross, brothers Tom Ross, Marshalltown, Iowa and Pat (Elsie) Ross of Bondurant, Iowa, and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his son Joe Ross, his parents, sisters Lorraine Ross and Mary O’Mara, and great-grandchild Kathryn Parker. Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Mary's Catholic Church.
