William Rhoads, age 65 of Glenwood, MN, passed away on Wednesday, September 21, 2022 at the St. Cloud Minnesota Hospital in St. Cloud, MN. Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 8, 2022 from 9:00 until 11:00 a.m. with a Celebration of His Life beginning at 11:00 a.m. at the Carris Family Funeral Home & Cremation Care in Perry, IA. Burial will be in the Violet Hill Cemetery in Perry. Memorials will be given to his family and may be left at the Carris Family Funeral Home & Cremation Care. William (Bill) Marion Rhoads, son of William Chads and Martha Ann (Salmon) Rhoads was born December 15, 1956 at the Dallas County Hospital. He was welcomed by his three sisters, Peggy, Patti, and Connie. Bill attended and graduated from Woodward-Granger in 1976. He was active in track, football, wrestling, and served as the class president for three years. He attended and wrestled at William Penn College for two years until he suffered a back injury. He then entered the masonry business following in his fathers footsteps. He soon met the love of his life, Beth Elaine Kalkman, in Ames Iowa and was united in marriage on December 26, 1981. In June of 1982, Bill made a 4 x 8 foot long sign "Its a boy" announcing to the world he had become a father to his first born, Chad William. Three short years later, he found his first gray hair and his daughter Chelsey Amanda was born. Bill was a 40+ year card carrying Union Bricklayer. Throughout his life he served as a volunteer firefighter, youth coach, and was always actively engaged in all aspects of his childrens and grandchildrens lives. He was an avid bass fisherman to the point bass opener was the only opener. Bill was a diehard Iowa Hawkeye fan, especially football and wrestling. The second love of his life was his 1200 Custom Harley Davidson Sportster, and he took every opportunity to hit the open road. His loyalty to friends and family was boundless. He is survived by the love of his life, Beth Rhoads, son Chad Rhoads, daughter and son-in-law Chelsey and Ryan Wildman, grandsons Christopher and Caden, granddaughters Alannah and Bella, mother Martha McDowell, sisters Peggy Williams and Patti (Bob) Abram, three nephews, a niece, great nephews and great nieces. He was preceded in death by his father William Rhoads, sister Connie Rhoads, stepfather Lloyd McDowell, and brother-in-law Daniel Williams.
