Services for William Thomas O'Hare "Bill" were held 10:30 am. Thursday, January 30, 2020 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Perry. Visitation was after 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 29, 2020 at Hastings Funeral Home in Perry with the family present from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Rev. Father Luis Mejia, Rev. Father David Polich and Rev. Father Don Czapla were the Concelebrants. Abbie Scott was the Lector. Michelle Hager was the Eucharistic Minister. Songs selected were: "On Eagle's Wings," "Blest Are They, Be Not Afraid" and "May Holy Angels Lead You Into Paradise." Chuck Schott was the musician. Gift Bearers were: Kirsten & Shane Rudolph; Abbie, Dee & Elijah Scott; Justin & Charlesee Schoenrock; Bre Shoenrock; Trevor Schoenrock; Madison Miller & Megan O'Hare-Briggs. Ushers were: Gary Becker and Richard Lundstrom. Servers were: Sophia & Maddie McDevitt and Hanna & Austin Sucher. Following the service at the church was a luncheon at the St. Patrick School Gym. Interment will take place at a later date at Violet Hill Cemetery in Perry. William Thomas O'Hare, "Bill," son of Clarence Edward O'Hare and Marie Stout O'Hare, was born April 22, 1939 in St. Paul, Nebraska and died January 22, 2020 at his home in Perry, Iowa at the age of 80. Bill and Carole Ellen Folks were united in marriage at St. Mary's Church in Ackley, Iowa in 1959. They were blessed with two daughters, Becky and Paula. The family lived in Iowa Falls and Des Moines before moving to Perry in 1968. Bill worked as a Federal Grain Inspector for 44 years before retiring. In retirement Bill enjoyed attending his grandchildren's activities. He could be seen on the sidelines in rain, sleet, snow or blazing sun. Bill also enjoyed lawn work, woodworking and gardening. He grew tomatoes and shared them with all of his friends and family. He was also known to play jokes on friends and family, and always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, sister Alice and her husband Bob Off, his brother Bob O'Hare and his wife Pam, brother-in-law Marlin K. Olson and brother-in-law Gayle Folks and his wife Nancy. Bill is survived by his wife Carole of Perry; two daughters: Becky (Jim) Schoenrock of Ames and Paula O'Hare (Mark Miller) of Woodward; six grandchildren: Kirsten (Shane) Rudolph of Des Moines, Abbie (Dee) Scott of Woodbury, MN, Justin (Charlesee) Schoenrock of Waukee, Bre Schoenrock of Ames, Trevor Schoenrock of Ames and Madison Miller of West Des Moines; one great grandchild Elijah Scott; sister Rosemary Olsen of Alden; sister-in-law Ruth Robinson and her husband Dean of Marion; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Memorials in Bill's name are suggested to the St. Patrick Catholic School in Perry and may be sent to Hastings Funeral Home P.O. Box #204.
