A Celebration of Life service for William Warren Hoyt was held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 11, 2014 at Hastings Funeral Home in Perry. Reverend Charlene Wolfe of the Hope Parish Churches provided words of comfort. Honorary casket bearers were Kaylinn Smith, Blaine Hoyt, Brody Hoyt, Eli Hoyt, Ashlyn Hoyt, Johnny Hoyt, Skyler Hoyt, Keylee Hoyt and Kendal Hoyt. Casket Bearers were: Delbert Turner, Wayne Urness, Tyson Smith, Jason Smithson, Roy Peters and Freddie German. Recorded music played was Drink a Beer, Knocking on Heavens Door and As Long as I Can See the Light. Interment took place at Dodge Township Cemetery near Bagley, Iowa. William Warren Hoyt, son of Evelyn Loraine Springer and Warren Anderson Hoyt, was born on August 18, 1945 at Jefferson, Iowa and died February 4, 2014 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines at the age of 68 years, 5 months and 18 days. Bill grew up on a farm south of Bagley and attended Bagley Community School. Bill was married to Marlene Lowe in March of 1963 and the couple had two sons: Doug and Curt. The couple lived in Norco, LA and later moved back to Bagley in 1970. Bill later adopted a daughter, Tasha. Bill worked for Meadow Gold in Perry until it closed and also owned and operated the Bagley Tap from 1974-1986. Bill then moved to Searcy, AR where he worked for the Yarnell Ice Cream plant. From there Bill lived in Anna, TX until returning to Perry after his retirement. Bill enjoyed riding motorcycles and was very interested in muscle cars. In his younger years he also drag raced. Bill was preceded in death by his parents. Bill is survived by two sons: Doug Hoyt (LeAnna) of Madrid and Curt Hoyt of Perry; one daughter: Tasha Hoyt of High Point, NC; grandchildren Kaylinn Smith (Tyson) of Panora, Blaine and Brody Hoyt of Madrid, Eli Hoyt of DeSota, Ashlyn, Johnny, Skyler, Keylee and Kendal Hoyt all of High Point, NC; sisters Cathy Wishman (Mel) of Jefferson and Candy Nash (Paul) of Clinton, CT, and other relatives and many friends.
