Wilma Breeding, 90, of Winterset, passed away at her home on Wednesday, January 4, 2023.
A visitation will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., Sunday, January 8, 2023 at the Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home, Winterset Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, January 9, at the New Bridge Church in Winterset. Burial will follow in the Winterset Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to the New Bridge Church and/or EveryStep Hospice.
Wilma Frances Breeding was born April 8, 1932 in Nodaway County, Missouri, the daughter of Wilbert and Callie (Brim) Thomas. She grew up in Stanberry, Missouri and moved to Winterset in 1956. She married Melvin Phillips and to this union two sons were born, Larry and Craig. After Melvin’s passing, she married Larry Breeding on January 2, 1982 in Winterset, Iowa.
Wilma was a secretary at the Winterset High School for many years and retired as secretary at the Madison County Engineer’s office. She was a member of the New Bridge Church of Winterset. She enjoyed quilting, dancing, and playing cards. Wilma especially loved her family and time spent with them.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Wilbert and Callie Thomas; her first husband, Melvin; and stepdaughter, Tally Sue Evans.
Wilma is survived by her husband, Larry Breeding; sons, Larry Phillips (Debra Mitchell) and Craig Phillips; stepdaughter, Terri Collins (Tom); brother, Clarence Earl Thomas (Donna); 6 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
