Wilma I. Frost, 91, passed away on June 28, 2023 at Westview of Indianola Care Center. She was born on November 15, 1931 to Arthur and Astrid Johnson in Ottumwa. In 1951, she married her beloved Jack. They moved from Ottumwa to Des Moines in 1956. Their 67 year marriage was full of many blessings including the birth of their beautiful daughter Jane, 2 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Wilma was a devout follower of her faith, finding solace and joy in the church and its activities. Her unwavering dedication to her spiritual life served as an inspiration to all who knew her. One could often find Wilma immersed in the beauty of drawing and painting. With her skilled hand and imaginative mind, she brought to life vibrant scenes and breathtaking landscapes. She brought joy to every occasion with her captivating moves, making her the first one to hit the dance floor and the life of the party. Her passion for dance was a reflection of her vibrant spirit and her love for music.
Wilma was a vibrant soul who found joy in life’s simplest pleasures. Her love for walking and exploring led her to become a familiar face in the Beaverdale area. She loved stopping at the small businesses and coffee shops, possessing a remarkable ability to strike up a conversation with anyone she encountered.
She is survived by her grandchildren James (Marcy) Heggen and Brenda (Mike) Carter; great-grandchildren Jordan and Emily Carter; and son-in-law Timothy Cantrell. She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, daughter Jane Cantrell and brother Arthur.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, July 19, 2023 at 10:30 am at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home in Urbandale. A private burial will take place for the family.
