Wilma Jean Nicholas

Wilma Jean Nicholas, daughter of Edward Noack and Lena Alborn Noack, was born December 29, 1929 on her parents farm north of Dawson and died June 6, 2008 at Kavanaugh Hospice on 56th in Des Moines at the age of 78 years, 5 months and 7 days. Wilma attended school in Perry. She married Edward Samuel Nicholas on February 20, 1958. They were parents of two daughters: Carla Jean and Vicky Sue. The family lived most of their married lives in Perry. Wilma enjoyed being a homemaker, and also enjoyed bird watching, playing cards, sewing, ceramics and making porcelain dolls. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Viola Newbury, and sons-in-law George Uken and Brian Fox. Wilma is survived by her husband of fifty years, Ed; daughters Carla Fox of Des Moines; Vicky Uken and fianc Dennis Johnson of Des Moines; 4 grandchildren: Chad Wilson (Heidi) of Des Moines; Dorothy Smith (Scott) of Madrid; Jennifer Uken (Bob Dittmer) of Des Moines; and Henry Uken (Kelly) of Perry; 5 great grandchildren: Nicolas and Andrew Wilson, Malorie Smith; Caleb Uken and Ashley Jackson. Wilma is also survived by her sisters -in-law Norma Hull of Perry; Karen Nicholas of Jamaica; Donna Young (Doug) of Sylmar, VA; and Linda Nicholas of Lake Elizabeth, CA; brothers-in-law: Daniel Nicholas (Patricia) of Daytona Beach, FL; Harold Nicholas of St. Joseph, MO; and Frank Nicholas of Brooklyn, NY; nieces; nephews, other relatives and friends.
