Wm ‘Billy’ Dippold, 82, of Van Meter, died, Saturday, January 10, 2015 at his home near Van Meter. A visitation will be held 1:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 13 at Ochiltree Funeral Service in Winterset, where family will be present to receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 14 at Ochiltree’s with burial to follow in the Trinity Lutheran Church Cemetery near Van Meter. Memorials may be directed to the family and online condolences may be left for family at ochiltree.com. William Orville Dippold, the son of William and Edith (Roach) Dippold, was born April 7, 1932 in Lee Township, Madison County, Iowa. He graduated from Van Meter High School in 1950. His marriage to Beverly Johnston took place on August 29, 1954 at the Trinity Lutheran Church near Van Meter and to this union two children were born. During his working career he had been a mechanic at the Ford Garage in Van Meter, drove bus for the Van Meter Schools, but for the most part he mainly farmed for most of his working years. Billy was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church and the Farm Bureau. He enjoyed being outdoors, especially if he was fishing, hunting, riding horses or playing a round of golf. All this said he was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who loved nothing more than time spent with his family. He is survived by his wife Beverly “Bev” Dippold of Van Meter, two grandchildren, Michael Hartz and Tiffany (Wright) Mathes both of Winterset; five great grandchildren, Jager and Melody Hartz, Prescott Allen, Danica Heathcote, and Xavier Owens and many more ‘adopted’ grandchildren. He is also survived by five nieces, Vicki (Ray) Russell; Shirley (Carl) Lyons; Eileen (Dwight) Brown; Debbie (Morris) Jones; Jean Johnson and many great nieces and nephews, along with a host of ‘adopted’ family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Denise Lynn (Dippold) Wright; son, William Dale Dippold; great grandson, Owen Wright; sister, Beverly (Glenn) Forret; in-laws, Francis and Ithoulia Johnston and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
